1. 让灾区父老乡亲尽快有个家

   湾区帐篷援助开始行动

    根据中国抗灾第一线报道，地震灾区急需300万顶帐篷,这一消息,引起我们的特别关注：“我们急缺帐篷，社会各界如果捐赠的话，我们希望多给我们捐赠帐篷，因为受灾群众需要很好的安置！”在四川省政府新闻办举行的汶川特大地震灾害第八场新闻发布会上，四川省副省长李成云通过近百名中外记者大声发出这一恳求。

   此次惨烈的天灾造成500万人无家可归。我们亲眼目睹了他们的无助和痛苦，我们被深深震撼。在抗灾救助中，保全生命让灾区父老乡亲尽快有个家是我们的第一选择, 四川有几千万人在轻灾区或者靠近灾区，拿成都来说，好多房子都裂了，大家不敢在家睡觉。一个星期下来，几千万四川人都快崩溃了，因为天天不敢睡觉，余震可能要持续一个月，也可能持续半年以上，我们需要为他们作最坏的打算。

   毫无疑问，灾区的需要就是我们的需要,他们的生活非常困难，灾后的重建工作中也势必将成为一个不容忽视的严峻问题。为应对这一难题，北加州中國512地震救助委員會向湾区各社团,个人发出“让灾区父老乡亲尽快有个家” 湾区帐篷援助，期盼各界人士奉献帐篷。逝者已矣，来者可追，用我们的实际救援，完成我们信念的延续。

   我们恳望大家，再度奉献出我们的真情，有钱出钱,有力出力,参与 “让灾区父老乡亲尽快有个家”的快速行动，为灾区父老乡亲,妇女儿童提供一个临时的”家”做他们坚强的灾后援助。

Tent and Sleep Bag Donation Drive For Sichuan Earthquake Victims

 According to reports from Sichuan Province, the quake-hit areas need at least 3 million tents to give homeless victims a temporary shelter. Appealing to the public in a press conference on May 22^nd  in Chengdu, Lieutenant Governor of  Sichuan Province said,  “We urgently need tents. It’s our No.1 priority for the time. If anything you want to donate, donate tents!”  

The 8 magnitude earthquake has left 5 million people homeless. It will take many months before some temporary housing can be set up for all places.  

The situation calls for urgent action from all of us. The Northern California Chinese 512 China Earthquake Relief (http://www.ncc512.org) is now organizing a tent/sleep bag donation drive after raising more than $160,000 in its first week of fund-raise drive. “Our mission is to help whatever they need, now they ask for it, we must respond and we are now”, said Charles Mu, President of the Northern California Sichuan Folks Association, who is also coordinating NCC512’s donation activities, “please donate your tents and sleeping bags, Any size helps. Or if you want to donate cash, you can purchase tents for us. We’ll arrange to ship them to the disaster area in the shortest possible time. Ask your friends, co-workers and others to help. We need to make it happen before rain season in Sichuan begins.”, said Sam Liu, President of Guizhou Overseas Promotion Association, a member organization of NCC512.
